Las Pinas vendors inoculated
Las Pinas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar said that 300 vendors at the Zapote Public Market have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.
Citing the report of market master Armando Utanes, Aguilar said they were able to convince all the 300 market vendors to get inoculated, and now they have full protection against the virus.
She said that during the surge of pandemic in 2020, no one among the vendors in the market contracted the disease due to the implementation of strict health protocols — wearing of face masks and face shields, bringing their own alcohol and observing physical distancing.
According to Utanes, all the market vendors were encouraged to get the vaccine shots with the help of Manny Peraja, president of the United Vendors Association Zapote Public Market.
He admitted that during the vaccination rollout, some vendors refused to get vaccinated due to some reports of adverse effects.
The market master said they are still implementing the one-entrance, one-exit policy in the market, and only 20 to 30 persons are allowed inside.
Utanes said there are still policemen and barangay tanods going around the market to ensure that physical distancing is being observed.
