Las Piñas City, in line with Republic Act 8172, known as the "An Act Promoting Salt Iodization Nationwide and for Related Purposes," recently conducted a random monitoring visit to local markets to ensure the compliance of vendors with iodized salt regulations.

The monitoring visit, carried out by the Las Piñas City - Bantay Asin Task Force (LPC - BATF), focused on the Zapote Public Market and Verdant Market on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.

Republic Act 8172, which promotes salt iodization nationwide, aims to improve the health and well-being of Filipinos by addressing iodine deficiency disorders (IDDs). Iodized salt plays a crucial role in preventing these disorders, which can have significant health impacts, particularly on children and pregnant women.

The Las Piñas City local government remains dedicated to protecting the welfare and health of its residents by enforcing regulations that promote public health. Through initiatives like these monitoring visits, the city aims to create a healthier environment for its citizens.
